Special thanks to @EspomaOrganic for partnering with us on this video.
We're featuring:

Hi, I’ve had mine for 6 months now. It has not done anything. I’ve had it in every window location, currently in a south west window above the kitchen sink. I use the same potting mix as you suggested and let dry between waterings. Would you give me explicit details on how you grow it. I can put it in my orchid room where the humidity is 70%. I would appreciate any suggestions you may have. Thank you!

A friend of mine from Paris moved from Paris to Belgium... she had a very big Monstera Deliciosa. It was way too big for her new home. She gave the plant to me. I moved it in a skate board to the hotel I work . The Monstera was very happy there. But hotelguests constantly touched and damaged the nice big leaves. It became also very big and high. The plant moved to a conservatory to heal from all the touchy people. Hopefully the Monstera will recover.

As a registered nurse I was in board with the video until she said DON'T Use Soap. The oil from poison ivy needs removed with soap and water. Please don't follow her advise of using only water... that is absurd.

I wouldn't even know where to begin to comment on any plants that I enjoyed the most. Such a wonderful nursery and garden! I did enjoy hearing about the echinocereus viridiflorus which he mentioned Big Bend Ranch State Park just 17 miles from me. I did not realize that was a native cacti so that is going on my list of one to purchase at some point. One thing he mentioned was the toll the UV and aridity play on labels. I can't keep a label for more than a couple of years before they become brittle and snap at the slightest touch an d then there goes any info that was listed. Also, many people not from this area think of desert plants and the term 'no water' go together. Even heat can become too much for some cacti. Like the Saguaro that last Summer were dropping arms as well as collapsing due to the extreme temps. Thank you again for the fantastic and informative tours!

However, after listening to her podcast Bad Seeds, all I can think of is the crime that was required to get these super rare plants here.

I've been growing this beauty for about a yr now and it's happy in an hr or 2 of morning sun, bright indirect light for the rest of the day. I live in Central Florida though where our sun is extremely intense so I have to be careful with a lot of my succulents, tropical plants and even herbs and veggies here. Especially when growing them outside. Mine lives outside on the patio and it seems to do pretty well. I have a lot of other succulents growing out there as well and they love the morning sunshine. My succulents do not appreciate our high humidity, so I try to put an oscillating fan on them in the afternoon just to help with air flow. It's not too picky, but does burn easily. Haven't had many pest issues with this variety either. Only some thrips which live in my outdoor planters anyway lol. They are tough little buggers to control. Question Summer, do you worry about thrips at all? I've heard so many mixed feelings on the subject and I was just wondering if it's something that you are concerned about. They don't seem to hurt anything unless there are too many of them.. than they seem to stunt the growth a bit. Any help would be appreciated. Also, I would love to know what live bugs you use for pest control indoors and out. Thanks in advance! I've been watching you for years and love what you do and how connected you are with nature 🌱 Thank you for all the hard work you and your crew do! ❤

DO NOT USE MAYONAISE AND WATER as a a leaf shine. She has mentioned this before in another house tour. The mayonaise turns rancid and sticky and filled with dust. It is impossible to clean. I made this mistake after her other video. It took me 4 washes of every single leaf (hundreds!) with a dishsoap and water solution to clean my one large fiddle leaf fig after following this bad advice.

I've been using a 'Zero water' water filter now for over a year to water my carnivorous plants and to filter water for my 10gallon shrimp aquarium. I just replaced the filter last week. It's cheaper than buying distilled water or investing in an RO system. Though, an RO is probably better and easier. Anyways, given that my carnivorous plants are thriving, I'd say it's a good alternative

Chollas are my favorite cacti. I have never seen so many cacti under one roof. I can attest to the needles on the cholla. They have a sheath and are barbed on the end. My knee made the acquaintance of a Christmas cholla. I didn't feel anything at all when it punctured my knee. So I walked back to the house, got out some pliers and it took some pressure to pull it out. My skin tented. There is a thought that the needle and/or sheath has a toxin that is transferred into the skin that numbs that area and some people get reactions from it as well. I've also been stabbed by a lechuguilla agave and my leg was numbed and I couldn't walk on it the next day. Interesting things to learn when you live in the desert. Inside Big Bend National Park which is just a few miles to the entrance, there is supposed to be a single location of cholla species. It's beautiful. It looks like a silver teddy bear but I wouldn't hug it for any reason.

Absolutely amazing and what a dream. Thank you so much for this tour of the conservatory. I cannot get enough of your plant tours and videos. The mimosa is probably one of my favorite plants. But not that mimosa in the video. Each time I mention a mimosa people think of one of the two. The sensitive plant or the Albizia julibrissin. But when I moved to far west Texas in the desert, I found our native mimosas. Mimosa texana and Mimosa borealis. At bloom time in the Spring, a limb on this shrub is a beauty with the blooms all lined up. Keep up the great work.
